The CAC Finals were held on Friday at Benedictine (I felt like I was at Fenway Park). With only three active teams in the conference, each wrestled the other in a dual format. Individual medals were awarded based on results with in the weight-class. Blue Ridge came away with the CAC Cup followed by Benedictine.
The individual results are list below. I tried to fill in the names that I could; apoligies to the wrestlers – most like the case with MMA – whom I have wrong. A few observations…
- It appears that Dan Desenberg’s has lost the battle of the bulge and he will be wrestling at 112 from here on out...unless of course he cuts weight this week.
- Benedictine’s team appears to be coming together. Although they only had 7 wrestlers compete, they had 13 guys on the team.
- Benedictine’s Alex Fort (152) and Ryan Logan (171) delivered mild upsets over Blue Ridge’s Ryan Dick and Drew LoCurto, both of whom had come home with 2nd at the LCA Tournament.
- MMA’s Mathew McCormick (145) breezed through; he should be competitive at states.
- The 285 match lasted 14 seconds…what a surprise.
